Part Time / Volunteer

After 46 years serving the community HOPE is in a critical rebuild period. We are in need of volunteers to help us continue our service to the formerly incarcerated, their families and the community at-large. Our part-time volunteer roles are designed to be flexible to the volunteer’s availability.

Description:

This role will be responsible for working directly with HOPE clients to aid in their re-entry. Under the supervision of a licensed New Jersey State social worker, the Case Manager will conduct client intake assessments and support the development of after care plans in accordance with NJ Parole Board mandates. The Case Manager will also support the execution of after care services including housing, employment and mental health services. This role is responsible for data evaluation input, review and documentation to meet clinical standards for the Social Workers’ review and state requirements.

The ideal candidate for this position must possess:

• Propensity for compassion and ability to relate to clients with various needs
• Ability to motivate clients to follow aftercare plans
• Great communication skills and ability to articulate after care plans to clients, loved ones and professionals
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple cases
• Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess clients, analyze feedback from health care and social workers, and determine the best care plans
• Computer literacy to maintain and manage case records
• Ability to work collaborative with other team members

Required Qualifications:

• College degree in social work or related field
• Work or internship experience in the social services
• Working knowledge of criminal justice issues and a passion for justice reform
• Experience in psychological assessments, crisis intervention and case management
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and exceptional data entry skills

Minimum Education Required:

Current NJ State Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in current good standing; BSW with active CSW in current good standing and professional experience may be considered.  Social work functions may not be carried out by non-social workers by New Jersey statute.
